Croasdaile Village Retirement Village is a special and unique place. Denise Waters said that one of the goals at Croasdaile is that the residents live as long as they are alive. With that in mind, one of Duke's documentary photography classes has spent the fall semester documenting the lives of the residents at Croasdaile. The course is a in the Knowledge in the Service of Society cluster of Duke's freshman FOCUS program.
Duke students began their projects believing they were there to learn about documentary photography, but it quickly became apparent that they were there to learn about life. And the teachers were the residents. Each of the Croasdaile residents has an amazing story to tell, and it was our privilege to be allowed into their lives. For this we are very grateful.
The course donated our final prints to Croasdaile and its residents. The website and all prints were all donated to the community as a gift. We are grateful to everyone at Croasdaile! Thank you for letting us witness to this Season of Story.
